Engineering Manager
Management of engineering design and activities for plant to support manufacturing operations. In this role the Manager will lead efforts related to mechanical engineering support for plant maintenance, new equipment designs / purchases, equipment modifications, troubleshooting problems, failure analysis, and overview of mechanical systems operations. Additionally, this role will lead and direct mechanical reliability and availability projects across the site. The position will work closely with manufacturing and quality control personnel. Duties include process and product improvement and cost reduction programs. This is a "hands-on" position requiring a significant portion of in-plant time. Manage multiple priorities / assignments and responsibilities simultaneously. Manage project engineering responsibilities for assigned capital projects Analyze manufacturing cost data for investment opportunities Compile Capital Appropriations Request for New Projects and submit it into the portal Work with plant personnel (as needed) to develop project scope and prepare CAPEX projects for submission Manage and maintain budget reconciliation file(s) for plant Negotiate contracts with vendors and contractors for capital projects Write specifications scope documents for capital and maintenance items Assign engineering tasks to subordinates and evaluate their job performance Control capital spending within project and overall budget Report monthly on status of capital expenditure and planned projects Travel as needed to investigate new technology and potential purchase of new equipment Design fixtures / machines / electric circuits to solve manufacturing problems and reduce costs Read and travel to stay current with technological trends Maintain back-up and reference files of drawings and software Apply lean manufacturing methods to plant process improvements Fill out required Sarbanes Oxley documentation Assist in solving maintenance problems and completing repairs Assist management with plant utility cost control and contract negotiation Education and Experience : Bachelor's degree in electrical or mechanical engineering; 5-10 years applicable experience in a manufacturing or manufacturing support environment. Evidence of leading significant projects. Professional EIT certification, PE certification preferred. Experience with any continuous improvement tools such as Six Sigma, Lean, and TOC (Desirable) Relocation Relocation is authorized for this position. This position requires use of information or access to production processes subject to national security controls under U.S. export control laws and regulations (including, but not limited to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and the Export Administration Regulations (EAR)).
