Houston, TX : Flexicrew Technical Services (FTS) is seeking a Manual Machinist (2nd Shift) to perform a variety of machining tasks including turning, milling, drilling, and threading operations on rotating equipment components such as pumps, turbines, and compressors. This position is based full-time in the Houston, TX shop and operates on 2nd shift (3 : 00 PM – 11 : 00 PM).

Essential Duties :

  • Set up and operate manual machining equipment including horizontal lathes, milling machines, VTLs, and Bullards.
  • Read and interpret technical blueprints and G-Code to produce components within required tolerances.
  • Measure and inspect parts using micrometers (OD and ID), dial calipers, and dial indicators.
  • Perform machining tasks to tolerances as tight as .0005”.
  • Use propane / acetylene safely for applicable tasks.
  • Operate pallet jacks, small lifts, and other shop equipment (training provided).
  • Maintain and calibrate measuring devices.
  • Follow safety protocols and company compliance standards at all times.
  • Provide and maintain personal basic machinist tools.
  • Participate in safety and quality programs, drug testing, and background checks as needed.

Requirements / Skills :

  • 5–10 years of experience as a Manual Machinist.
  • High School Diploma or GED from an accredited institution.
  • Advanced math and communication skills.
  • Proficient with machining operations : turning, milling, drilling, threading.
  • Able to read and understand blueprints and machining drawings.
  • OMEGA experience preferred.
  • Able to hold tight tolerances and follow written / verbal instructions.
  • Skilled in reading calibrated measuring tools and understanding quality standards.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
  • Willingness to work overtime, evenings, or weekends when needed.

    • Physical Requirements :

  • Must stand and walk for most of the shift.
  • Must lift objects up to 50 lbs. (with or without assistance).
  • Ability to climb, kneel, reach above head, crawl, and balance.
  • Must use hands for machining, assembly, and tool handling.
  • Regular exposure to moving mechanical parts in a machine-shop environment.
