Responsibilities Work in a hospital-based echocardiography department Perform adult and geriatric studies, with occasional adolescent and pediatric exams Duties include transthoracic echo, transesophageal, and stress testing including dobutamine and treadmill exercise stress echo, as well as carotid duplex studies Covers variable 8-hour day shifts, Monday through Friday, with shift start times between 7 : 00 AM and 9 : 00 AM Weekend coverage rotation required from 8 : 00 AM to 4 : 30 PM Occasional on-call coverage may be requested Floating to multiple units or locations as needed Patient care using both stationary and portable ultrasound equipment Independently perform and record non-invasive ultrasound studies and provide preliminary impressions to physicians Adapt sonographic procedures to evaluate anatomical, pathological, and diagnostic disease processes Serve as clinical instructor for students and participate in instruction of fellows, residents, and visiting physicians May participate in clinical research and act as a resource for staff across the health system Strict pass / fail telemetry test required with limited retake allowance prior to start Orientation schedules vary by department and may not always begin on Monday Scrubs are required Holidays and weekend rotations required per department needs Requirements Minimum of 1 year cardiac sonography experience required Registered in echocardiography (RCS or RDCS) required BLS certification through American Heart Association required Associate degree in Biological Sciences, Radiology, Ultrasound, or similar health sciences field and completion of a CAAHEP-approved ultrasound program required Must reside at least 50 miles from facility for consideration First-time travelers accepted in some units Successful completion of pre-employment telemetry exam required License required if applicable Benefits High Pay and Bonuses Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options 401(k) Plan Weekly Payroll Deposit Free Online CEUs Generous Housing Allowance Travel and Licensure Reimbursements Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy Traveler Rewards and Discounts American Traveler Job ID P-623754.
