Network Administrator

Overview

Under general direction, performs a full range of duties in the information technology series, including designing, developing, installing, maintaining, and upgrading personal computers, hardware and software, networking systems, servers, telecommunications equipment, printers and other such hardware, and other information technology devices. This is an advanced-level position in the information technology series. The incumbent is distinguished from the Network Support Technician I and II by the complexity of duties required and level of independence in work. The incumbent at this level receives minimal instruction and independently resolves new and unusual situations when they arise. The incumbent is authorized to make major changes, is able to carry out purchasing, and is fully aware of the operating procedure and policies of the work unit. The position includes proven ability to take on a high level of responsibility, work independently and with a team, rapidly prioritize and execute multiple tasks, and meet demanding deadlines. The position may include leading and providing direction to one or more subordinates.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in computer science, information technology systems, or a related field; Network Support Technician Certification; and two or more years of experience in analysis, design, implementation, maintenance, and management of networks, hardware, and software applications; or a combination of education and experience that provides sufficient evidence of the successful performance of the essential elements of the job.
• Possess and maintain a valid Nevada Class "C" Driver License.
• The ability to pass a criminal background investigation.
