High End Residential Construction Superintendent – Big Sky
Job Description
This posting is for positions located in Big Sky, Montana starting in the summer of 2025. Applicants are highly encouraged to move to Montana.
The Superintendent oversees the construction job site. This includes labor, scheduling, budget, quality control, safety, and management of subcontractors. On larger sites there may be more than one Superintendent with separate specific scopes of work. The Superintendent works directly for the Project Manager, but will also work with Project Engineers, Safety personnel and Senior Project Managers.
Qualifications and Required Skills
- Experience in construction with at least 10 years of Superintendent, Foreman or Project Engineer experience
- A four-year engineering or construction management degree in construction management or five years of Field experience in construction if high end residential projects in resort communities or mountain regions
- Must be able to mentor, instruct and oversee up to 20- 40 individuals daily
- Must be OSHA 30 certified
- SWPPP certifications are desired but not mandatory
- Must be certified in telehandler, skidsteer, scissor lift and boom lift operation
- Must have experience with Microsoft Office Suite, MS Project, Bluebeam, and Procore
- Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and physical
Essential Job Functions, Duties, and Responsibilities
Conducts preconstruction tasks of :Reviewing the project documents to include plans and specifications.
Reviewing all subcontractsReviewing all purchase ordersPlanning all site requirementsHelping order required supplies and materialsGenerating a project scheduleUnderstands all scopes of work and knows the budget for each scopeTracks job site production daily and reports production at least weeklyMentors and trains Carpenters, Foreman, and Project EngineersConducts quality control of all trades and ongoing workWorks with Safety personnel to ensure work is being conducted safely and the job site is free of unneeded hazardsEnsures job site remains orderly, clean and organizedWorks with Equipment and Maintenance personnel to track and maintain all company owned and rented equipmentCoordinates and executes weekly subcontractor meetingAssists Safety personnel in weekly safety meetingReviews and submits employee timecards bi-weeklyAdditional Duties and Responsibilities
Understanding of high-end residential wood finishes, plaster, stone, difficult trim details, wood framing, reclaimed lumber, lumber takeoff and ordering, etc.May assist with performing carpentry dutiesCoordination of housekeeping duties such as sweeping, clearing debris, and trash removalMay assist in demolition tasks as neededOnce certified, may use a telehandler forklift or skidsteer to complete tasksCoordination of weather condition protection and coordination along with temp heat and ground thawingUse a company vehicle to pick up or deliver materialsAny other tasks provided by Safety personnel or SuperintendentsWorking Conditions and Physical Demands
This position is strenuous. Applicants must be able to work outdoors in all weather conditions. Activities will include climbing ladders or scaffolding, walking, balancing, stooping, kneeling and standing for long periods of time. Applicants must have full dexterity of the neck, back, arms and legs. Applicants must be able to see clearly and recognize small details. Applicants must be able to sit in an office environment and use a tablet, keyboard and mouse. Applicants must be able to communicate by phone and text messaging.
