About The Position

We are seeking an experienced Pathologist for an 8-day locum tenens assignment in Illinois, starting Dec 20, 2025. This opportunity involves a mix of scheduled 8-hour onsite shifts and 24-hour call coverage, primarily handling dermatopathology cases and surgical grossing during standard working hours.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Provide pathology coverage with a focus on dermatopathology cases
  • Perform surgical grossing, including lumpectomies, colons, and hysterectomies (biopsies not grossed)
  • Oversee staining procedures, with slides sent to external laboratory
  • Manage sporadic frozen sections (approximately 2-3 per week, scheduled within working hours)
  • Collaborate with onsite laboratory staff and ensure timely case processing

    • Additional Information

  • Active Illinois medical license required
  • Board certification in Pathology - Clinical required
  • Prior experience in surgical and dermatopathology cases preferred
