Position Overview
The Arizona Department of Environmental Quality (ADEQ) seeks a Senior Project Manager to lead and manage complex environmental and administrative projects within the Water Quality Division. This role ensures projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in compliance with state and federal regulations. The position requires strong leadership, stakeholder engagement, and project management expertise in a public sector environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Project Planning & Initiation : Define scope, objectives, and deliverables; develop detailed project plans, schedules, and budgets.
- Budget & Financial Management : Monitor project costs, ensure fiscal accountability, and report financial performance.
- Stakeholder Communication : Act as primary liaison for internal teams, government agencies, vendors, and the public; facilitate meetings and provide status updates.
- Compliance & Regulation : Ensure adherence to federal, state, and local laws, procurement rules, and environmental standards.
- Risk Management : Identify risks, develop mitigation strategies, and maintain an issues log.
- Execution & Delivery : Lead multi-disciplinary teams through all phases; adjust plans as needed to meet objectives.
- Procurement & Vendor Oversight : Assist with RFPs, SOWs, and vendor contract administration.
- Documentation & Reporting : Maintain accurate project documentation and prepare technical / non-technical reports for stakeholders.
Qualifications
Education : Bachelor's degree in Public Administration, Business Management, Engineering, or related field (Master's preferred).Experience : 3 5 years of project management experience, including 2+ years in public or non-profit sector; experience with government projects preferred.Certification : PMP or CAPM required (include certification details in application).Essential Skills
