Archetype Entertainment is a new game studio in Austin, Texas led by industry veterans from BioWare and other AAA studios. Archetype is a division of Wizards of the Coast (Hasbro). We are building a development team with world-class talent to create a new science fiction universe for our first multiplatform roleplaying video game. Our goal is to create the greatest story-driven roleplaying games in the world. We believe there will always be a place for story-driven roleplaying games that put the player at the center of an epic personal narrative with impactful choices, and that studios should empower developers with ambitious projects guided by a strong creative vision. Archetype Entertainment is looking for a passionate, experienced, and collaborative
Senior Technical Level Designer
to help us build an amazing game-of-the-year caliber RPG. In this role, you will own content features and systems collaborating closely with design, environment art, and engineering to provide the team with robust tools and pipelines for mission and level development. The ideal candidate has built high-quality content as a designer, is a strong collaborator across teams, has a strong technical background, and is comfortable working with Unreal Blueprints.
What You'll Do
Work closely with the Mission team leads to execute the design vision with a heavy emphasis on implementation.
Collaborate across multiple teams including level designers, engineers, environment artists, VFX and audio to bring world systems to life.
Proactively seek out and resolve bottlenecks to improve efficiency and empower the design team to build high-quality, bug-free content.
Collaborate with other departments, ensuring relevant partners are involved and advised throughout development.
Act as a strong quality advocate for the team, crafting content that is game-of-the-year caliber and helping others achieve the same standard.
Regularly play the game, providing constructive feedback and suggestions.
Stay up to date on industry trends and competitor games.
What You'll Bring
3+ years of experience as a Technical Game Designer with at least 1 shipped AAA title.
Experience working in, and technical proficiency with Unreal Editor.
Level scripting experience with a focus on implementing missions / quests, encounters, and scripted narrative sequences.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Self-sufficient and self-motivated, able to push something forward but also know when to ask for guidance.
Extra Credit
Proficiency in code, preferably using C++ in Unreal.
Experience implementing gameplay systems including player exploration or traversal toolkits, UI / UX implementation, or enemy AI behaviors.
Experience working on new IP from the beginning.

Compensation and Benefits
The base salary range for this position is $108,200.00 to $178,100.00. The hiring range will vary based on factors such as experience, skills, location, and market conditions. Additionally, employees may be eligible for annual and long-term incentives as part of their overall compensation package.
