Automotive Upfit & Accessory Technician

Mount Pleasant Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram, a locally owned and operated family dealership, is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Upfit Technician to join our custom vehicle and accessory team. If you have a passion for building off-road-ready Jeeps and Rams, and hands-on experience with lift kits, suspension work, wheels / tires, lighting, and 12V wiring, this is your opportunity to turn your passion into a career. We’re looking for someone who knows their way around aftermarket installs, works clean and efficiently, and takes pride in producing showroom-ready custom builds for both retail clients and front-line units. Key Responsibilities : Install suspension lift kits, leveling kits, and upgraded shocks / struts on Jeep and Ram vehicles Perform wheel, tire, and alignment-related modifications Wire and install 12V accessories such as LED light bars, pods, winches, switch panels, and auxiliary power sources Install exterior and interior accessories : bumpers, step bars, tow hooks, fender flares, racks, etc. Perform quality control checks and ensure every build meets safety, torque, and cosmetic standards Coordinate with parts and service departments to track installs and timelines Maintain a clean, safe, and organized workspace and assist with accessory inventory management Qualifications : 2+ years of hands-on experience with aftermarket accessory and suspension installations Proven ability to work independently on upfits, especially Jeep Wranglers, Gladiators, and Ram 1500 / 2500 platforms Experience with wiring, relays, and 12V accessory installation required Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail Must own basic tools and specialty tools related to suspension / accessory installs Valid driver’s license and clean driving record Welding or fabrication experience a plus but not required What We Offer : Competitive flat-rate or hourly pay : $25–$40 / hour, based on skill and certifications Consistent accessory and upfit workload with strong customer and internal demand Medical, dental, and vision insurance 401(k) with company match Paid time off and holidays Modern, well-equipped facility with lifts and tools for heavy accessory work A family-owned environment with leadership that supports performance, quality, and technician growth Opportunity to be part of a growing off-road build program in one of the Southeast’s most active Jeep markets If you’re ready to build the kind of vehicles enthusiasts get excited about, and want to work in a shop that values craftsmanship and hustle—Mount Pleasant Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram is your next move.
