We are looking for a highly organized and detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our team in San Francisco, California. This role is a Contract-to-permanent position, offering an excellent opportunity to contribute to the financial operations of a well-established boutique law firm specializing in complex litigation, labor and employment law, and retail leasing. The ideal candidate will play a key role in managing financial processes, ensuring compliance with tax regulations, and maintaining accurate financial records.
Responsibilities :
- Maintain the general ledger by reviewing financial statements, analyzing financial data, and ensuring accurate account reconciliations.
- Prepare journal entries, develop detailed spreadsheet reports, and support monthly and annual closing processes.
- Generate financial statements and reports while assisting in the preparation of budgets and performance forecasts.
- Conduct financial audits and analyze current accounting policies to recommend improvements.
- Manage tax-related tasks, including preparing tax records, ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations, and assisting with tax filings.
- Stay updated on tax laws and provide support for audits or inquiries related to tax compliance.
- Respond to financial inquiries by researching and interpreting data to provide clear answers and solutions.
- Meet strict deadlines for financial processing and reporting, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Collaborate with other departments to streamline accounting processes and enhance operational efficiency.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
- At least 3-5 years of general accounting experience, preferably within a law firm or services environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 applications, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills to manage multiple priorities effectively.
- Familiarity with tax-related processes, including corporate tax returns and sales tax.
- Experience with general ledger management and preparing journal entries.
- Ability to work collaboratively across teams to achieve financial objectives.
