Key Job Details - Virginia Healthcare Opportunity Location : Smithfield, VA 23430 Healthcare Setting : 32-bed Medical Surgical / Telemetry unit (North and South sides, overflow capacity) Job Type : Travel Nursing Contract Start Date : January 5, 2026 End Date : April 6, 2026 Contract Length : 13 weeks Nursing Shift : Night shifts, 3x12-hour (19 : 00 - 07 : 30) Hours per Week : 36 Patient Population : Adults & Geriatrics Estimated Weekly Pay : $1,890 - $1,940 Registered Nurse Qualifications Minimum 1 year of recent Med / Surg Tele RN experience within the last year Active Registered Nurse license in Virginia or compact state Required Certifications : ACLS, BLS, CPI, NIHSS (stroke education) EPIC charting system experience Travel nursing experience required Charge nurse and community hospital experience preferred Ability to provide at least one supervisory reference RN Responsibilities - Medical Surgical / Telemetry Unit Deliver high-quality nursing care to medical, surgical, and telemetry patients Manage patient ratios of 6 : 1 during night shifts Float to overflow unit as needed Perform and manage procedures : central line care, chest tubes, IVs, wound care, telemetry monitoring Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams including PT, respiratory, radiology, pharmacy, and social services Administer medications, blood products, and maintain patient safety protocols Document care accurately using EPIC electronic health records Participate in orientation and ongoing nursing education Experience the best of Smithfield's friendly atmosphere and beautiful surroundings while advancing your nursing career in a supportive hospital environment.
