We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Design Engineer to join our dynamic team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to collaborate with experienced engineers on a variety of projects related to the planning, engineering, and design of electric and gas distribution systems. The successful candidate will contribute to developing infrastructure solutions that balance economic, environmental, social, and regulatory considerations while ensuring reliable power delivery.

What you will do :

  • Applying sound engineering knowledge of engineering principles and practices in broad areas of project assignments with supervision and assistance from other engineers and managers
  • Performing a variety of basic engineering tasks to assist in the production of plans, specifications, reports, diagrams, and engineering documents with supervision by other engineers and supervisors
  • Performing miscellaneous job-related duties as necessary
  • Create distribution design sketches and supporting documents per the Client’s distribution design guidelines and standards.
  • Specify distribution construction standards.
  • Specify necessary materials per Client distribution construction standards.
  • Perform and provide cost estimates to customers.
  • Support distribution designers with customer related issues and expectations.
  • Prepare new drawings utilizing CAD software.
  • Field inspects site conditions.
  • Maintain knowledge of current procedural / process documents.
  • Create and update process documents as needed
  • Maintain accurate documentation of project milestones and schedules.
  • Provide professional and timely communication with peers, management, clients, other contractors, customers as well as other project stakeholders.
  • Perform and / or check engineering calculations to determine and confirm design feasibility.
  • Specify materials required for distribution construction projects.
  • Follow Client approved safety procedures both in the office and in the field.
  • Wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Other distribution engineering and design services as required such as permitting or project coordination.

You are a critical thinker who uses that skill and collaboration for analysis and problem solving. You have above average technical capacity which can be applied to all job functions. You are a proficient communicator employing both verbal and written forms to assure understanding and quality completion of tasks. You demonstrate flexibility by the ability to quickly shift between tasks as needed.

What you bring :

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited university
  • Enthusiasm to be a part of the team and open to learn new skills
  • Strong communication skills
  • Unquestioned business and personal integrity
  • Degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited university / college.
  • Experience with Utility Work Management Systems (WMIS, Dynamo, SAP)
  • Experience with Utility Design and Construction Standards
  • CAD Experience (AUTOCAD / MicroStation or similar)
