Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced ER RN with a KS or compact license, TNCC certification, and strong floating capabilities for the Zone 4 ER Float Pool.
Responsibilities
Work in an acute care ER float pool covering multiple hospital locations within a 60-mile radius of Garden City, KSFloat between Bob Wilson, St. Catherine Dodge City, and St. Catherine Garden City ERs as assigned each schedulePatient population includes abdominal pain, DM, NSTEMI, pneumonia, trauma, stroke, and HTNTypical nurse-to-patient ratios are 1 : 4-5 based on acuityNo trauma designation; STEMI Receiving and Stroke Center capabilities with send outs as neededMixed ER holds; no separate psych / seclusion roomsRT available 24 / 7; nurses expected to read and interpret telemetry stripsPoint of Care lab testing requiredUses EpicCare Inpatient EMR; prior Epic experience preferred12-hour night shifts with every other weekend and holiday coverage requiredExpected to float throughout the assigned zone; there is no home base facilityResponsibilities include providing emergency care, performing triage, and participating in safe patient handoffsSupport staff include techs assisting nurses and performing unit secretary dutiesOrientation includes 2-3 days onsite; clinicians must be present in-state for the week of orientationNavy blue scrubs are requiredCharge nurse is available for support during shifts and may take assignments as neededFirst-time travelers will be considered for this roleHoliday and every other weekend shifts are requiredCandidates must not have been employed by CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity Health facilities within the past yearRequirements
Active KS or compact RN license required at time of considerationMinimum of 2 years recent ER RN experience requiredCertifications required : BLS (AHA), ACLS (AHA), PALS (AHA), TNCC, NIHSSAbility to float within all ERs in the specified zone is requiredCopy of driver’s license required for considerationMust provide references : one supervisor from the past 12 months and one peer or supervisor from the past 3 yearsMust reside outside a 60-mile radius from the zone’s city center to qualify for travel payBenefits
