Robert Half Finance and Accounting has partnered with an O& G Services company to recruit an experienced Accounting Manager to oversee general accounting operations and ensure the accuracy of financial records within our business unit. In this role, you will play a pivotal part in managing month-end close processes, preparing financial reports, and conducting variance analyses. This position offers the opportunity to collaborate closely with the business unit Controller and contribute to the financial integrity of the organization.
Responsibilities :
- Oversee and manage all aspects of the month-end close process, including journal entries, financial reporting, and variance analysis.
- Prepare and maintain accurate balance sheet schedules, ledgers, and account reconciliations.
- Provide detailed financial analysis by comparing actual results to budgets and prior periods, identifying variances, and recommending corrective actions.
- Support accounts payable and accounts receivable processes, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
- Document and reconcile financial transactions to maintain accurate general ledger records.
- Assist with the preparation of management reports and ensure compliance with financial reporting deadlines.
- Identify and resolve accounting discrepancies, ensuring consistency and adherence to company policies.
- Collaborate on budget preparation and analysis, comparing budgeted and actual costs in periodic reports.
- Supervise and mentor direct reports, fostering a productive and collaborative team environment.
- Ensure compliance with sales / use tax regulations, particularly in oilfield applications, when applicable.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field, with at least 5 years of experience requiring attention to detail.
- A minimum of 5-8+ years of experience in various accounting roles, demonstrating a broad skill set.
- Proficiency with accounting software; experience with NetSuite is a plus.
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and analytical problem-solving capabilities.
- Strong interpersonal communication skills for effective collaboration with operations management and accounting staff.
- Knowledge of sales / use tax regulations in the oil and gas industry is highly desirable.
- Ability to manage time effectively, work under pressure, and meet tight deadlines.
- Demonstrated flexibility, credibility, and composure in a corporate office environment.
