Essential Responsibilities

• Capability and Development

The role involves leveraging expertise in one or more of these areas - advanced machining, non-conventional methods including laser / ECM / EDM, welding, joining, fabrication, composites, ceramics, coatings, additive. Have hands-on experience in developing process methods, tooling and fixtures, programming and running production. Expertise in techniques that go beyond traditional methods to improve hardware producibility at the design phase and process development at the production phase.

A significant part of the role is working closely with design engineers to ensure that designs are manufacturable. This involves integrating manufacturing process capabilities early in the design cycle to optimize production efficiency and quality.

The role may involve evaluating and developing new suppliers, working with suppliers on process development and production readiness to ensure they can meet the requirements of production quality.

This refers to analyzing and estimating the cost of manufacturing processes to ensure cost-effectiveness while maintaining quality and delivery standards.

This involves participating in and potentially chairing technical reviews ensuring that manufacturing considerations are incorporated into the design process.

This role is critical in bridging the gap between design and manufacturing, ensuring that innovative designs are both producible and cost-effective while maintaining high standards of quality and safety.
