Job Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a night shift Telemetry position requiring a MD or compact RN license and two years of recent telemetry experience.

Responsibilities

  • Work in the Telemetry unit of a hospital setting
  • Night shifts (3x12 hours), 19 : 00 - 7 : 30
  • Weekends required every other weekend
  • Holidays required as scheduled
  • Patient ratio is 1 : 5-6
  • Floating required within the specialty, to lower acuity, and to a sister location as needed
  • No on-call responsibilities
  • First-time travelers are accepted
  • Tele RNs provide care to a diverse telemetry patient population
  • Candidates must be comfortable floating within scope of experience, including to sister locations
  • Return travelers must have a 6-month break; prior staff must be away from UMMS for 12 months before returning as a traveler
  • Only one contract extension typically allowed before a 6-month break is required
  • Time off requests must be submitted at initial consideration and cannot be changed once offered
  • Mandatory completion of non-billable onboarding modules
  • Most locations allow for one major holiday off during the winter season

    • Requirements

  • Active MD or Compact RN license required at time of consideration
  • Minimum of 2 years recent telemetry experience required
  • Current certifications : BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, CPI (AHA required for BLS / ACLS, Calm Every Storm for CPI)
  • Two satisfactory professional references required; one must be from a supervisor or manager and one from a charge RN
  • Permanent residence must be 50 miles or more from the hospital
