Job descriptionBachelor’s Degree in Engineering is required. Minimum of 3 years work experience in automotive manufacturing design is required. Dimensional Management and Understanding of GD&T required Experience with Mechanism, Steel and Aluminum part design and manufacturing Recommend low-cost design alternatives, common design solutions, and standardization opportunities to improve efficiency and reduce complexity. Continuously improve product designs, development processes, and timelines to enhance overall project execution. Collaborate with Manufacturing, Quality, Sales, and Portfolio teams to ensure vehicle designs satisfy all functional and business requirements. Participate in regular design reviews to ensure vehicle conversions meet or exceed performance, safety, and regulatory requirements. Conduct peer design reviews to promote sound engineering practices and proactively identify potential design concerns. Plan and manage design, procurement, assembly, and validation activities in alignment with project timelines, Stage Gate (APQP) milestones, and risk mitigation strategies. Ensure all designs meet defined project specifications, quality standards, and cost targets. Lead the engineering, design, and development of new vehicle conversions using CAD software (Autodesk Inventor). Design key vehicle systems and components including mechanisms, suspensions, structures, and closures (e.g., doors and liftgates). Build and design prototype vehicles to validate concepts and ensure feasibility.
