WWSB-TV, a Gray Media ABC affiliate in Sarasota, is recruiting its next Weekend Anchor / MMJ. As a newsroom leader, you'll help innovate workflows in our digital-first newsroom by producing special content for the web and engaging viewers on our live streams, long before the newscast begins.

WWSB-TV, Gray Media’s ABC Affiliate in Sarasota, is searching for a team leader to coordinate, produce, and deliver live digital and on-air news coverage during weekend newscasts, and be assigned lead stories as a best practices MMJ / Reporter during the week.

We’re focused on delivering an upgraded customer experience and evolving the MySuncoast.com brand well beyond 2030. Working alongside producers, you’ll help guide the editorial decisions and presentation on all platforms—at a moment's notice from our Newsroom Live Desk and during traditional news times from our Broadcast Studio.

Success is not about prompter reading, nor is it about stacking a rundown with feed packages or tracking the weeks until you get your weekends free. NOTE : WWSB-TV monitors and regularly covers extreme weather threats, including strong Tropical Storms and Hurricanes. All journalists play a vital role in the ABC7 newsroom response, helping connect viewers and digital users with life-saving news and information. Safety is always our top priority, and all teammates and management are required to be present at the station to serve our local community before, during, and after a storm.

Duties / Responsibilities include, but are not limited to :

• Participate in editorial meetings and help guide decision-making
• Track weekday story production and evaluate editorial upgrades for the weekend
• Write copy for web, publish stories online, produce Live Reports from CTV / OTT Desk
• Evaluate breaking news coverage opportunities
• Anchor weekend newscasts
• Assist with video editing, producing, and writing for weekend newscasts
• Exhibit and embody strong journalism ethics at all times
• Understand and implement copyright clearance protocols
• Shoot, write, and edit traditional broadcast news stories using MMJ gear in the field
• Create sustained urgency plans to grow coverage from newscast to newscast
• Fill in weekday anchoring and special projects as assigned
• Represent the station at community events
• Be proficient in all MMJ Workflows, including ENG Camera, LiveU, and Edius operations
• Create and publish meaningful, unique digital videos using platforms like Canva
• Clip videos and write stories for the website and upgrade that content for digital enhancements, including extended CTV and Live Desk production
• Drive CTV adoption and engagement with news and marketing teams to create and promote exclusive CTV content on platforms like Roku, Amazon Fire TV, and Apple TV.
• Organize and Leverage User-Generated Content for broadcast and digital platforms.
• Lead efforts to increase social referrals by developing engaging, shareable content that drives users to WWSB platforms.
• Seek counsel regularly from and assist other station leaders and journalists throughout Gray Media.
