Operations Manager Outbound, Animal Health

Our Lexington, KY location is seeking an Outbound Manager responsible for managing the outbound operation of the Distribution Center to ensure timely and accurate order fulfillment and shipping to ensure the customers' expectations are exceeded every day.

Job responsibilities include :

Planning and directing all distribution activities including shipping, routing, and administrative tasks to ensure company requirements are met.

Leading the effort to gather feedback regarding the customer expectations. Making recommendations and implementing changes to continually improve the customers experience.

Ensuring the efficient organization and layout of the distribution center by optimizing processes for picking, packing, and shipping customer orders while maintaining distribution center compliance with all governmental agencies and their regulations.

Main point of contact for all inquiries regarding outbound shipments. Working with internal partners (Sales, Regulatory and Quality Affairs) regarding orders shipped. Answering questions and providing information to resolve any outstanding issues in a timely manner. Pro-actively communicating issues to appropriate individuals which may include : Customers, Sales, Purchasing, and Distribution Center Management.

Reviewing current or future trends that indicate possible gaps in the outbound process and making recommendations based on findings.

Conducting daily status meetings with management team to review prior days performance and to develop action plan for current day.

Managing the outbound team. This includes but is not limited to, performance management, attendance management, training, employee engagement and retention, and employee development.

Requirements include :

Bachelors degree required, with preference for a major in Operations, Logistics, Supply Chain, or other business-related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience).

Minimum of three years of experience in warehouse or production environment; minimum of one year experience with a pharmacy or pharmaceutical wholesaler / distributor required.

Minimum three years management experience.

Must meet any minimum certification qualification required by any local or state board or licensing agency, as applicable within span of control (varies by location).

Competencies needed include :

Demonstrates strong communication skills, both written and verbal.

Demonstrated ability to strategically organize, prioritize and meet customer expectations.

Highly motivated and results oriented.

Ability to build and maintain strong working relationships.

Must be proficient in Microsoft and computer skills.

Experience and knowledge in distribution processes (receiving, shipping and inventory control) required.

Forklift Certification desired.

Green belt or equivalent in Six Sigma or Lean Six Sigma preferred.

Physical demands / work environment include :

Extensive computer use.

Ability to engage in overnight travel on an as needed basis essential.

Ability to lift and transport 30 pounds on a regular basis and up to 50-70 pounds on an occasional basis.

Must be able to stand and / or walk on concrete as needed throughout the day and complete tasks that include bending, stooping, and reaching.

May require working in a cooler environment of 35- 46 F.
