Job Summary
The Senior Estimator is responsible for developing accurate, detailed estimates for structural, selective, and specialty demolition projects. This includes scope review, quantity takeoffs, cost analysis, subcontractor procurement, and preconstruction coordination. The role requires strong technical understanding of demolition means and methods, production rates, equipment selection, and sequencing.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Review drawings, specifications, reports, and site conditions to define project scope and bidding requirements.
- Perform detailed quantity takeoffs for labor, equipment, trucking, protection systems, temporary works, and disposal.
- Build cost models using current production rates, crew mixes, and equipment utilization.
- Develop demolition sequences and identify engineering or shoring considerations that affect cost or schedule.
- Solicit, review, and analyze subcontractor and vendor pricing for specialized scopes.
- Prepare bid packages, clarifications, alternates, and RFI lists for pre-bid review.
- Validate that all contract documents, addenda, and client responses have been incorporated into the estimate.
- Coordinate internal bid reviews with operations, safety, and senior management.
- Maintain estimating databases, assemblies, and cost histories based on actual field performance.
- Support project handoff meetings with detailed explanation of estimate assumptions.
- Analyze completed projects to reconcile estimated vs. actual performance and adjust future pricing.
- Maintain knowledge of Cal / OSHA, environmental requirements, and demolition regulations.
Required Skills and Abilities
Strong understanding of demolition methods, structural behavior, and equipment capabilities.Ability to read complex drawings and engineering reports.Competence with estimating software (InEight, Vista, Bluebeam).Strong technical writing and documentation accuracy.High level of attention to detail and consistency.Education and Experience
Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred.7–10 years of demolition estimating experience.Experience with structural demolition and selective interior demolition requiredCompensation
Salary Range : $155,000-190,000 annualEmployees in this position may receive an annual performance-based bonus, subject to achievement of established goals.Benefits
