Description
Job Summary : This position is responsible for designing, developing, and optimizing manufacturing processes specific to the production of various types of coils in an HVAC setting. This role ensures efficient, cost-effective, and high-quality coil manufacturing by improving process capability, ensuring manufacturability of coil designs, and supporting production teams with technical expertise.
Essential Responsibilities : Manufacturing Engineering support of all products and processes.
- Provide manufacturing engineering support for HVAC coil production across all product lines.
- Develop, review, and improve workflow design, coil brazing processes, tube expansion, fin stamping, leak testing, and assembly procedures.
- Implement design-for-manufacturability principles with a focus on coil geometry, material compatibility (copper, aluminum, steel), and coil configuration.
- Lead process improvements in brazing, automated fin / tube insertion, coil bending, and leak testing operations.
- Establish, document, and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs), work instructions, and quality control procedures tailored to coil production.
- Manage cross-functional project teams for capacity expansion projects (new fin press lines, brazing automation, leak-test stations).
- Design and improve factory layout to optimize coil material flow, brazing cell efficiency, and ergonomics.
- Collaborate with design engineering to improve coil designs for manufacturability, reliability, and cost reduction.
- Evaluate and recommend new equipment and tooling for fin presses, tube expanders, brazing stations, coil testers, and automated handling systems.
- Provide technical support to production teams for troubleshooting coil-related defects such as fin damage, tube leaks, and brazing quality issues.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives using Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies to reduce scrap, improve throughput, and ensure safety.
- Train operators and technicians on new processes, tools, and equipment related to coil manufacturing.
- Ensure lessons learned from coil manufacturing challenges are documented and integrated into future process designs.
- Serve as a subject matter expert for coil production processes, including brazing, refrigerant charging, coil coating, and corrosion prevention methods.
- Mentor junior engineers and technicians to build coil manufacturing expertise within the organization.
Qualifications
Requirements : Essential :
Must have 6+ years' experience as a manufacturing or industrial engineer, with at least 3 years in HVAC or coil production strongly preferred.Must possess a Bachelor's in Science in Engineering, or related field, from accredited educational institution. Education beyond the minimum is an added advantage for career development.Project management experience as a Manufacturing or Industrial Engineer.Proficient with lean manufacturing, 6-Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies.Knowledge, skills, and abilities :
