Anticipated Hiring Range The anticipated hiring range for this position has been established as $18.61 to $21.50 hourly. Salary is determined by a variety of factors, including but not limited to, the individual’s particular combination of education, skills, and experience, as well as organizational requirements. Missouri S&T's Intercollegiate Athletics Department is seeking an Assistant Sports Information Director to join its Communications team. The successful candidate must be highly organized and driven with exceptional multi-tasking and communication skills. The candidate must have strong knowledge of social media platforms. This position will work under the Director of Sports Information and help with the supervision of student assistants.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Serving as the primary communications contact for assigned sports, as well as serving as a secondary contact for the other intercollegiate athletic teams
  • Assist with managing, creating and strategizing creative digital content for the department’s social media channels
  • Writing and editing content within InDesign, Photoshop, Microsoft Office and Stat Crew
  • Writing features and press releases
  • Record keeping and tracking statistics
  • Participating in some public address, radio, and / or video work
  • Assisting with any media request for coaches and student athletes
  • Ensure compliance with the NCAA, Great Lakes Valley Conference, University of Missouri and Missouri S&T policies guidelines, and procedures
  • Other projects and duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and 2 years of experience from which knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in public relations, communications or journalism
  • One year experience in intercollegiate media relations or communications
  • Served as a primary communications contact for a sport at a previous school
  • Writing and editing skills and knowledge of InDesign, Photoshop, Microsoft Office and Stat Crew
