Job Title : Surgical Technologist – CVOR (Open-Heart)

Position Summary :

The Surgical Technologist will be responsible for assisting in cardiac (open-heart) surgical procedures and supporting the operating team to ensure a safe, sterile, and efficient surgical environment. When CVOR case volume is low, the technologist will float to assist in general surgery.

Requirements :

  • Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program
  • BLS certification required
  • Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) preferred, but not required
  • Minimum of 2 years of current or recent open-heart surgery experience required
  • Strong critical thinking skills and solid knowledge of central processing and instrumentation
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary surgical team

    • Schedule & Call :

  • Full-time (40 hours / week)

    • Option of four 10-hour shifts or five 8-hour shifts

  • Typical schedule : 6 : 00 AM – 2 : 30 PM
  • Call Requirements :

    • Minimum 2–3 days of call per week (varies with staffing)

  • Weekend call : Friday end-of-shift through Monday 7 : 00 AM
  • Holiday call rotation may be required based on schedule

    • Key Responsibilities :

  • Prepare and maintain the sterile field for cardiovascular surgical procedures
  • Ensure proper care, handling, and availability of surgical instruments and equipment
  • Anticipate the needs of surgeons and other team members during procedures
  • Adhere to strict aseptic techniques and infection control standards
  • Support general surgery cases as assigned
