Position Summary
This position is in the Asphalt Value Chain, Asphalt Supply, Trading and Logistics located in Findlay, OH or Tempe, AZ and reports to Asphalt Supply, Trading, and Logistics Director.
The Asphalt Scheduling position will be responsible for commercial scheduling of asphalt through different distribution channels and modes of transportation to ensure timely delivery to Marathon's terminals and customers.
The candidate will be responsible for scheduling Great Lakes marine movements from Detroit, providing relief coverage to Brown Water and Rail schedulers, and supporting the Asphalt Value Chain through analysis and reporting. The successful candidate will coordinate with multiple groups including refinery personnel, marine, marketing, product quality, trading, terminals, and others. The applicant is required to be detail oriented, organized, self-motivated, and team oriented. Subject to on-call coverage.
Key Responsibilities
- Responsible for managing all aspects of Asphalt's Great Lakes Vessel as well as providing back-up coverage to Brown Water and Rail schedulers.
- Nominates and schedules pipeline, waterborne, truck, rail and / or delivery movements through use of propriety and third-party scheduling systems. Monitors inventories and shipping schedules daily to ensure that supply meets demand.
- Communicates and verifies planned movements with all stakeholders, including but not limited to traders, optimizers, internal and external counterparties, customers, suppliers, producers, marketers, terminals, and vessels.
- Provides timely and accurate inventory position information to Planners, Trading, Marketing, and Management.
- Gains knowledge of the costs of transportation associated with the movements on their desk. Focuses on increasing transportation efficiencies while minimizing per barrel transportation costs.
- Responds to unexpected events making contingency arrangements to minimize disruption of supply.
- Initiates and coordinates movements independently based on the Asphalt Supply Plan.
- Identifies and communicates business process improvement ideas that create internal process efficiency and / or reduce costs.
- Conducts analysis and reporting to support scheduling responsibilities and to support the broader needs of the Asphalt Value Chain.
Education and Experience
