About This Job
This position will be filled as a part-time classified WAE, limited to 1,245 working hours in a 12-month period. This position will serve on a custodial crew performing routine manual tasks to maintain the cleanliness, sanitary conditions, and appearance of the Louisiana State Museum building and complexes. The Louisiana State Museum's collections and educational programs stimulate awareness and appreciation of our state's rich and diverse history and culture.
Minimum Qualifications
Six months of experience in custodial, housekeeping, groundskeeping, or food service work.
Job Duties
Serves as a lead worker working with a group of custodians or other employees to perform custodial related duties to maintain the cleanliness and sanitary conditions of all the museum buildings and complexes.
Performing tasks such as sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, scrubbing, polishing, dusting, cleaning glass pane windows, and using the proper cleaners and cleaning tools designed for each specific purpose.
Empties trash cans and disinfects trash containers.
Moves, rearranges, and dusts furniture and fixtures.
Keeps outdoor entry ways and sidewalks clean by sweeping, hosing, and pressure washing as necessary.
Cleans and waxes floors using industrial size mops for cleaning and applying waxes, and uses specialized industrial equipment such as strippers, buffing, and polishing machines.
Is able to read event and function forms and aids with the setting up and breaking down of tables, chairs, furniture, and audio equipment required to special events, banquets, and meetings.
Aids with cleaning prior to, during, and after all special events, banquets, and meetings.
Assists with the cutting of grass, trims shrubs, waters plants, and performs other related duties on the grounds when assigned.
Have knowledge on how to operate lawn equipment such as riding mowers, push mowers, weed eaters, and blowers.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Position-Specific Details
Appointment Type : This is a part-time classified WAE position.
Work Schedule : The Louisiana State Museums in New Orleans are open to the public at various times throughout the week. This position may be required to work evenings, weekends, and holidays. This position may be required to travel between Museum locations in New Orleans.
Location : State Museum in New Orleans, LA.
