Locum Tenens - Primary Care Physician (Family Medicine) - Emporia, VirginiaRural Practice Outpatient Only VA License Required at Time of Submission Assignment Overview

  • Location : Emporia, VA (Southern Virginia - Rural Setting)
  • Coverage Dates : December 2025 - Mid-January 2026
  • Schedule :
  • 3x 8-hour shifts per week
  • Preferred : Monday-Wednesday, 8 : 30 AM - 5 : 00 PM
  • Flexible based on provider availability
  • Patient Volume : 20 patients per day
  • EMR : Epic
  • Exam Rooms : 6
  • Reason for Coverage : Clinic will be without a provider Practice Details
  • Setting : Primary Care Clinic with rotating specialties
  • Population Served : Adult, Pediatric, Newborn, Geriatric
  • On-Site Services :
  • Laboratory
  • Point-of-care testing
  • Phlebotomy
  • Emergency Equipment : Defibrillator, Airway supplies
  • Support :
  • Behavioral Health provider on site
  • Possible virtual coverage by other IM physicians Procedural RequirementsInternal Medicine :
  • Adult outpatient care (no ICU / CCU)

Pediatrics :

  • Newborn care (>

    • 2000g)

  • General outpatient pediatrics

    • Gynecology :

  • Pelvic exams, Pap smears (preferred, not required)

    • Minor Surgery :

  • Suturing minor lacerations
  • I&D (Incision & Drainage)

    • Psychiatry :

  • Uncomplicated adult cases (BH support available)

    • Credentials Required

  • Board Certified or Board Eligible - Required
  • Active Virginia Medical License - Required at time of submission
  • BLS Certification - Required

    • Additional Notes

  • No call, no in-house codes, no ED backup
  • No supervisory responsibilities
  • OB care not part of daily practice (0 OB patients / day on average)
