Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the intricate processes of the faculty appointments and promotions as part of the staff team - Particularly focused on the clinical track.
  • Review and approve faculty offer letters ensuring all required language is included.
  • Provide knowledge and specialized subject matter expertise on all faculty affairs related issues for faculty including appointments and promotions including helping departments to recruit, appoint, retain, and direct faculty through various life-cycle phases of their careers. Provide best practices as they relate to faculty affairs matters.
  • Review and prepare casebooks for review by CLINACAP (clinical track advisory committee at the Medical School). Oversee the development of the agenda, schedule meetings, compose and edit recommendations for the committee's action and for review / endorsement by the Medical School's Executive Committee.
  • Draft dean's letters for approved senior level appointments and promotions.
  • Answer general faculty affairs help tickets equitably amongst team members as well as those that pertain to listed job duties.
  • Perform other appropriate assignments as needed.
  • Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree with 2 years of progressively responsible administrative experience at an academic medical center or an associate degree with 4 years of progressively responsible administrative experience required.
  • Must possess demonstrated ability to take initiative, work independently, prioritize, manage multiple assignments, and follow through on job responsibilities.
  • Excellent verbal, written, interpersonal communication skills with a strong customer service focus and an ability to interact with a wide variety of individuals in a professional manner.
  • Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy required. Advanced skills with Microsoft Office applications highly desired.
  • Proven ability to assess and handle highly sensitive and confidential matters required.
  • Effective time management, problem-solving and analytical skills are necessary; ability to consistently meet deadlines is essential.
  • Desired Qualifications

    Previous experience in faculty affairs at an academic medical center is strongly desired, along with a working knowledge of University of Michigan and Michigan Medicine policies and guidelines.
