Job descriptionTakes a patient\'s medical history. Updates charts and patient information to show current findings and treatments. Orders tests for nurses or other healthcare staff to perform. Reviews test results to identify any abnormal findings. Recommends and design a plan of treatment. Addresses concerns or answer questions that patients have about their health and well-being. Helps patients take care of their health by discussing topics such as proper nutrition and hygiene. Works with the primary healthcare team to provide patients with primary medical care within the standard of care for internal medicine patients. Orders laboratory and radiology tests and refer patients to specialists when appropriate and called for. Analyzes reports, test results, medical records, and examinations to diagnose condition of patients and propose treatment options. Prescribes pharmaceuticals, other medications, and treatment regimens to treat identified and documented medical conditions. Discusses potential side effects of medication / treatment with patients and ensure that all allergy information is up-to-date before prescribing medication. Adheres to departmental policies, procedures, and objectives, ongoing quality improvement objectives and safety, environmental, and infection control standards. Maintains patient confidentiality and comply with all federal and state health information privacy laws. Records complete, timely, and legible medical records. Must be able to deal with stress while maintaining composure. Follows and adheres to TRMC vaccine policy(s) mandated by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS). Two to eight years of experience in an internship and / or residency programs preferred. State License with the Texas Medical Board required. BLS (Basic Life Support) within 30 days of hire date. ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) required within 90 days of hire date. PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) preferred.
