Job description

Florida Palms Academy is seeking a Licensed Clinical Therapist for its Statewide Inpatient Psychiatric Program (SIPP) located in Hollywood, Florida (Broward County) . This program is specifically designed for elementary and middle school-aged children and adolescents (6-14) who can benefit from psychiatric residential treatment. This intensive program currently limits admission to 38 children and provides both an individualized-educational curriculum coupled with a therapeutic environment. Our treatment center’s average length of stay is approximately 6 months.

Florida Palms Academy encourages clients to explore their emotional issues, under close clinical supervision, while providing a superior academic environment. Florida Palms Academy has gathered a team of professional and support staff who are experts in their fields and deeply committed to the care and treatment of children and their families. Our team includes educators, psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, nurses, counselors, direct care staff and support staff, all of whom are experienced in their disciplines.

RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Facilitate individual, family, and group therapy for children and adolescents ages 6-14.
  • Develop initial comprehensive treatment plans.
  • Maintain documentation of weekly progress notes.
  • Complete continued stay reviews and monthly treatment plan reviews.
  • Participate in weekly clinical team meetings and multidisciplinary team meetings.
  • Consult with program psychiatrist weekly.
  • Engage in collateral consultations as needed.
  • Attend professional development trainings as required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES :

  • Considerable knowledge of the techniques and principles of child and family development, family systems theory, crisis intervention, individual and family therapy, group therapy, play therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, and trauma focused therapy.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, listening skills, and a demonstrated ability to foster a supportive environment for clients.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues and community agencies.
  • Detail-oriented with ability to effectively multitask, prioritize, and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to take initiative and work independently.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and clear professional boundaries.
  • REQUIREMENTS :

  • Florida license in Social Work, Marriage and Family or Mental Health.
  • Experience with various mental health diagnoses and trauma.
  • Experience working with children, adolescents, and families.
  • Knowledge of the Foster Care system.
  • Ability to work under time constraints.
  • Strong writing and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience writing strong treatment plans and case notes.
  • Flexible schedule (days, evenings and weekends).
  • Fluent in Spanish.
