Description
We are seeking an accomplished Data Engineering Lead to join our Data & Analytics team in Columbus, OH . In this role, you will establish repeatable frameworks, lead a team of data engineers, and ensure delivery of reliable and scalable pipelines that power enterprise analytics. You'll set standards, implement best practices, and partner with leadership to drive a modern data engineering capability.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop Standard Patterns : Create and maintain best practices for data integration and transformation, recommending alternatives when standard patterns don't fit unique requirements.
- Automation & Metadata : Use APIs, Python, and other automation tools to develop and maintain an inventory and metadata for data pipelines.
- Monitoring & Analytics : Build tools and SOPs for monitoring, alerting, and pipeline analytics to ensure reliability, performance, and visibility.
- Demand Intake & Prioritization : Work with the PMO to establish an intake process for new data engineering requests. Manage and prioritize the backlog, assigning work across the team.
- Leadership & Mentorship : Lead junior data engineers, ensuring work is performed on time and with quality. Conduct pipeline reviews, provide coaching, and mentor team members for professional growth.
- Performance Management : Define and track Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for data pipelines, reporting regularly against them.
Important Experience & Skills
Leadership & Mentorship : Proven experience managing and mentoring junior data engineering resources and leading teams.Technical Expertise : Highly skilled with SQL and Python, with deep knowledge of modern data engineering architecture and best practices.Modern Practices : Experience with DevOps, CI / CD, and enterprise-grade frameworks for scalable and sustainable data delivery.Strategic Influence : Skilled at working with senior leaders to design and implement repeatable frameworks that deliver enterprise data at scale.Tools & Platforms : Hands-on experience with enterprise data engineering and automation tools to build and operationalize pipelines (e.g., Airflow, dbt, Snowflake, Databricks, etc.).Pay Transparency Compensation for roles at Avaap varies depending on a wide array of factors including but not limited to the specific business unit, team, role, skillset, and level of experience. As required by law, Avaap provides a reasonable range of compensation for roles that may be hired.
Base Salary Range is $130,000 to $165,000 plus 20% variable compensation is available for this specific role. At Avaap it is not typical to be hired at the top of the base salary range.During the interview process, alignment to level will be determined and should level differ from position applied for, a new compensation range will be provided for the appropriate role.Minimum Qualifications
