Automotive Mechanic – Cox-Powell Corporation

Position Overview
Cox-Powell is seeking an experienced Automotive Mechanic to join our team to manage our fleet of vehicles out of our Williamsburg Office. In this role, you will maintain, diagnose and repair 50-60 vehicles mainly made up of Ford Transits, F-150s and Explorers. Additionally, you will diagnose, maintain, and repair a variety of vehicles and light to heavy-duty equipment, ensuring safe, reliable, and efficient operation for our fleet. You will work independently to deliver high-quality workmanship that meets or exceeds industry standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform preventive maintenance, inspections, and repairs on gasoline vehicles
- Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues using diagnostic equipment and service manuals
- Repair or replace components such as engines, transmissions, brakes, steering, suspension, and driveline systems
- Perform tire mounting services
- Maintain accurate service records, parts usage logs, and repair documentation
- Read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and work orders to plan and execute work efficiently
- Ensure compliance with all company safety policies and OSHA regulations, including proper use of PPE
- Communicate effectively with supervisors, team members, and customers regarding repair status and recommendations
- Assist with road calls and emergency repairs when required
Requirements
Must-Have Criteria :
At least 4 years of experience as an automotive mechanic, fleet mechanic, or heavy equipment technicianProficient in diagnosing and repairing automotive systems using hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipmentAbility to read and interpret wiring diagrams, service manuals, and technical bulletinsValid driver’s license with a clean driving record and reliable transportationAbility to work in shop and field environments, indoors and outdoors, in various weather conditionsWillingness to work Monday–Friday with occasional after-hours or weekend assignmentsLegally authorized to work in the United StatesAble to pass a pre-employment background check and drug screenNice-to-Have Qualifications :
ASE Certifications (Automobile or Medium / Heavy Truck)Experience with fleet maintenance programs or shop management systemsCDL Class B or higherWelding or fabrication experienceEPA Section 609 Certification for A / C serviceOSHA 10 or OSHA 30 safety certificationBenefits
