Ellison Law LLC is seeking a self‑motivated, passionate criminal defense attorney to join our technologically advanced and flexible work environment. Our team is dedicated to compassionate, honest, and relentless legal representation for clients accused of criminal and motor‑vehicle offenses.

This position is ideal for an attorney who wants flexibility in scheduling and prefers a focused criminal defense practice over the high caseloads of government work.

About Us

Ellison Law LLC is a private criminal defense law firm representing clients facing charges ranging from misdemeanors to serious felonies in Rhode Island and Massachusetts. We provide premium legal defense while treating clients with respect, empathy, honesty, and dignity. In addition to criminal defense, we handle motor vehicle infractions, traffic tickets at the Rhode Island Traffic Tribunal, and appeals of driver’s license suspensions at the Rhode Island DMV and Massachusetts RMV. We are a small, growing firm of three attorneys and support staff.

Job Position Description / Responsibilities

• Represent clients in criminal defense cases, including but not limited to DUIs, assault charges, drug offenses, and other crimes.
• Represent clients on traffic tickets at the Rhode Island Traffic Tribunal.
• Represent clients at driver’s license suspension hearings and appeals with the Rhode Island DMV and Massachusetts RMV.
• Conduct intakes with potential new clients and complete the signup process.
• Perform legal research and prepare memos, motions, pleadings, and related documents.
• Maintain client confidentiality and adhere to the legal profession’s ethical standards.
• Prepare for, attend, and present arguments at court hearings, arraignments, pre‑trial conferences, trials, etc.
• Create and update client files electronically as needed.
• Prepare for and represent clients at trial.
• Develop legal defenses and strategies for clients and investigate client cases.
• Consistently communicate with clients on their case status.
• Collaborate with team members, including other attorneys, via Zoom or in person.
• Meet key performance indicators set by the firm.

Compensation & Benefits

$80,000 – $120,000 salary based on criminal defense experience. Opportunity for performance bonuses.

Location

This position is remote. Our physical office is located in Providence, RI, and can be used for in‑person meetings with clients and team members.
