Community Outreach Coordinator, SEO Instruction and Leadership Team - 23804
Position Summary : The Division of Inclusive and Accessible Learning (DIAL) is seeking an experienced, highly skilled Community Outreach Coordinator to support the Special Education Office Instruction and Leadership Team. The Community Outreach Coordinator will work on maintaining, promoting, and coordinating activities for the SEO Instructional Team’s programs and office activities. The Community Outreach Coordinator supports the various SEO IT Teams (Quality IEP, CF IEP Teachers, Behavior, Access), and Senior Leadership in outreach, scheduling meetings and communications within the office and with other educational partners. The Community Outreach Coordinator will act as main point of contact and coordination for all special projects and initiatives, such as collaborations with District 75, Districts, and SEO. In addition, the Community Outreach Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating activities related to professional development throughout the year.
Reports to : Executive Director, Specialized Instruction
Key Relationships : Will serve as a key member of the instructional team, across New York City Public Schools (NYCPS) and within the division.
Responsibilities
- Liaise with Districts and schools to support SEO Instructional Team offerings. (Centrally Funded Special Education Intervention (formerly IEP) Teacher, Quality IEPs, behavior, SETSS, etc.).
- Establish and / or strengthen the protocols and processes necessary for implementation and tracking of large-scale SEO initiatives.
- Manage SEO email inboxes that serve as communication loops to and from districts and schools in the implementation of SEO initiatives that require large scale coordination of materials / resources, teacher training registration, and data tracking support.
- Take lead in resource dissemination for various SEO Instructional Team offerings (e.g., CF Special Education Intervention (formerly IEP) Teachers, SETSS, Quality IEPs, behavior, etc.) and responding to concerns / requests from districts, schools, and families.
- Participate in SEO meetings, supporting district and school-based staff.
- Liaise with district staff to support the Inclusive Schools Learning Collaborative (ISLC).
- Manage office project activities and tasks related to large scale SEO initiatives.
- Develop and maintain systems for collaborating with key departments, e.g., RPC. Transition, Specialized Programs and District 75.
- Develop and manage reports on SEO Team initiatives based on participating school’s tracked data.
- Coordinate the enrollment, logistics, and evaluation of all project’s professional development offerings.
- Coordinate all project visibility initiatives and outreach, including mailings, announcements, and newsletters, work with internet and information hub.
- Participate in Instructional Team and Inclusive School Learning Collaborative meetings. Support the collaborative work of related SEO Instructional Team members as needed.
Qualification Requirements
Minimum
A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two (2) years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties described above; orHigh school graduation or equivalent and six (6) years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties as described above; orEducation and / or experience which is equivalent to “1” or “2” above. However, all candidates must have at least one (1) year of experience as described in “1” above.Preferred
Ability to perform data and office management tasks.Effective spoken and written communication skills.Knowledgeable about NYCPS instructional priorities.Highly efficient, with the ability to manage tactical / strategic projects.Experience with communications writing.Excellent interpersonal skills in working with education and non-education personnel.Knowledge of NYCPS policy and procedures and the ability to interpret and apply policies effectively.Creative problem-solver with the ability to perform independent, thoughtful analysis.Willingness to learn new skills and participate in professional development activities.Highly organized, with the ability to take initiative to implement systems and follow-up processes.Able to work and prioritize effectively under pressure in a demanding environment, use independent judgment, and produce quality work within tight time constraints.Experience utilizing office applications and software such as Microsoft Office Suite, e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Explorer, and Outlook.Salary
$82,000 - $84,250
