Job Description
The SEHD HR team provides human resources and payroll administration for the School of Education & Human Development (SEHD) within the University of Colorado Denver. This position performs functions related to recruiting, on-boarding, off-boarding, payroll, leave usage, and record keeping.
Professionals at the Entry and Intermediate Levels are responsible for exercising discretion, analytical skill, personal accountability and responsibility in a wide range of areas including academic, administrative, managerial and student services functions. Work involves creating, integrating, applying and sharing knowledge directly related to a professional field.
At the Entry Level, duties are limited in scope and are performed with guidance and direction from other professionals and are performed in a training and development capacity.
At the Intermediate Level, duties may be limited in scope and are performed with guidance and direction from other professionals.
HR and Payroll Coordinator
What you will do :
Under the guidance and direction of the Manager of HR and Payroll, this position will perform the foll owing duties :
Communication
Field all general SEHD HR inquiries via email, phone, walkup, teams chat in a timely way (acknowledge receipt within 48 hours & work with partners to respond as appropriate), using respectful word choice that includes openness to others' perspectives
Maintains HR webpages, forms and resources, processes mass email communications, schedules and hosts meetings, distributes forms and letters
HR A dministration
Tracks data in databases / spreadsheets, manages personnel files, coordinates I-9s, ensures onboarding and offboarding checklists are completed, provides search support and candidate correspondence, maintains CU Careers requisitions, prepares reports
Payroll
Processes student employment setups, payments, work study awards and biweekly timesheets, partners with International Students and Scholars Services for international paperwork as needed, tracks leave usage for SEHD personnel using HCM and MyLeave, ensures multiple overlapping payroll deadlines are met, audits payroll registers and works with partners to solve discrepancies
Qualifications you already possess (Minimum Qualifications)
Entry Level
Intermediate Level
A bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
One (1) year of professional experience managing employee benefits, employee hiring and onboarding, performance management, and / or HR records, or other related experience.
Substitution : A combination of education and related technical / paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree on a year for year basis.
Preferred Qualification to possess (Preferred Qualifications)
Intermediate Level
Two (2) years of experience with employee hiring and onboarding, performance management, and / or HR records, benefits or other related experience, including PeopleSoft HCM or similar HR Management software experience
Two (2) years of experience in business administration, finance, accounting, healthcare administration, public administration, communications, information systems, or other related experience.
Experience in a higher education setting
Knowledge of University policies, Regents Rules and School policies
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and orally.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels throughout the institution.
Demonstrate a commitment to providing outstanding customer service skills.
Demonstrate a basic understanding of diversity, equity and inclusion with a commitment to developing equitable practices.
Strong organizational skills; ability to coordinate multiple activities, establish priorities, attend to detail, handle interruptions, manage time and follow-up.

Compensation and Benefits
The salary range ( or hiring range ) for this position has been established at $51,000 - $54,000 (Entry) and $54,112 - $58,000 (Intermediate).
The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.
The above salary range ( or hiring range ) represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
This position is not eligible for overtime compensation.
