Clerk - Mail Room - Full Time

Job Description

Position Summary : Sort and distribute incoming mail and inter‐office mail throughout Robert Packer Hospital and Guthrie Healthcare Sayre campus. Sort outgoing mail and apply proper postage. Maintain all mailing equipment.

Education, License & Cert : High School graduate or equivalent required.

Experience : Previous clerical experience helpful. Should have typing and computer experience. Previous experience in a mailroom setting preferred. Knowledge of various postal equipment preferred (mail machine, postage scale, inserter, forms folder, ect.) Knowledge of postal mailing requirements preferred.

Essential Functions : 1. Sorts, separates incoming mail. 2. Knows and understands all current postage mailing requirements. All mail is sent out with the correct postage affixed. Know how to effectively utilize all mailing services (bulk mail, certified mail, flat rate mail, etc.) 3. Is familiar with all next day or second day couriers (FedEx, UPS, USPS, Etc.) so that Guthrie Healthcare System receives the best possible rates on all overnight letters and parcels. 4. Operates all equipment efficiently and safely. Reports to manager ant unsafe equipment so that it can be properly repaired and maintained. 5. Picks up and delivers all interdepartmental Mail and prepares it for distribution whether inside or outside of the facility. 6. Assists with mail returns and address corrections. 7. Notifies manager when various postal accounts are running low on funds so that replenishment is made in a timely manner.

Other Duties : 1. Performs the monthly pre‐sort for hospital statement billing. 2. Maintains records of daily and monthly summary cost sheets by department and yearly postage summary for the post office. 3. Responsible for maintaining all records for postage due and certified / return receipt mail. 4. Performs other related duties as assigned by the manager.
