Position Summary : We are seeking experienced Diesel Mechanics to maintain, repair, and troubleshoot heavy mining and industrial equipment — including haul trucks, loaders, conveyors, bulldozers, and drills. You’ll work both independently and in a team setting to ensure the reliability and peak performance of equipment supporting salt extraction and large-scale material handling operations.
This is a hands-on opportunity for mechanics who thrive in a rugged, fast-paced environment and enjoy working with advanced mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems.
Key Responsibilities
Diagnose, repair, and maintain heavy equipment such as cranes, loaders, haul trucks, conveyors, and bulldozersInspect, dismantle, and reassemble equipment using hoists, cranes, and hand toolsPerform welding and fabrication repairs on broken or worn structural partsConduct preventive maintenance — check and fill fluid levels, service lubrication points, inspect hydraulic lines and pumpsTroubleshoot and repair electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems efficientlyRead and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and service manualsOperate equipment for testing and post-repair verificationMaintain daily work logs, service reports, and documentation accuratelyFollow all safety procedures and maintain housekeeping standards in work areasCommunicate effectively with supervisors and team members regarding repairs, hazards, or process changesQualifications & Skills
High school diploma or GED required2–4 years’ experience as a heavy equipment or diesel mechanic (industrial or mining environment preferred)Must hold a Michigan Mechanic Certification (Diesel, Transmission, Hydraulic, or Electrical Systems)Experience with CAT SIS Program preferredProficient in troubleshooting engines, transmissions, and sub-assembliesAbility to diagnose malfunctions, isolate causes, and make repairs to OEM standardsFamiliar with cranes, loaders, conveyors, bulldozers, and air compressorsStrong computer skills, including Microsoft Office and basic diagnostic softwareDependable, safety-minded, and able to work in a physically demanding environmentCapable of lifting 50+ lbs and working extended shifts underground or outdoors year-roundWhy Join the Team?
