Overview

The Director of Development plays a crucial role in advancing the mission of Cancer Support Community Indiana through strategic fundraising and relationship management. This position is responsible for developing and implementing comprehensive fundraising strategies, managing donor relationships, and overseeing events that enhance community engagement. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in fundraising, estate planning, public relations, and event management, coupled with excellent negotiation skills.

Duties

  • Develop and execute a strategic fundraising plan to meet organizational goals.
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with donors, stakeholders, and community partners.
  • Manage estate planning initiatives, including wills and trusts, to maximize charitable contributions.
  • Utilize Salesforce for tracking donor interactions and managing fundraising campaigns.
  • Conduct market research to identify potential funding sources and trends.
  • Negotiate agreements with donors and sponsors to secure funding for programs and initiatives.
  • Oversee the planning and execution of fundraising events to engage the community and promote the organizations mission.
  • Collaborate with partner organizations for joint initiatives and outreach efforts.
  • Create compelling communications with the Director of Marketing using Constant Contact to keep donors informed and engaged.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in development or fundraising roles, preferably in a nonprofit environment.
  • Demonstrated experience in event management, including planning and executing successful fundraising events.
  • Strong knowledge of estate planning, wills, trusts, and estate law.
  • Excellent relationship management skills with a track record of successful donor engagement.
  • Proficiency in Salesforce or similar CRM software for managing donor information.
  • Experience in market analysis to identify funding opportunities.
  • Strong negotiation skills with the ability to close deals effectively.
  • Exceptional public relations skills with the ability to represent the organization positively in various settings.
  • A bachelors degree in a relevant field is preferred.
