Description
The technician in the R&D Innovation Development group is primarily a role to support R&D efforts in the preparation, testing and evaluation of new materials for potential use across the various business areas Diversey serves. You must demonstrate working knowledge of basic chemistry, applications, and making chemistry formulations. You must be able to apply and interpret standard scientific theories, concepts, and techniques. You will work under supervision from chemists and manager, plan and perform laboratory assignments, operate various machines, test equipment in the evaluation of products, and have a working knowledge of basic chemistry.
Responsibilities
Making product formulations, performing physical, chemical, or application tests on formulations, routinely testing formulations, and reporting results
Evaluate products by performing standard and non-standard test methods
Contributes to the development of new and improved test methods or equipment under the supervision of a scientist
Operates and maintains departmental equipment
Proper data logging and reporting, using the standard systems
Pro-actively support the members of the technical team in projects
Checks and maintains inventories of raw materials and supplies
Introduce new team members to the equipment and how to use them
Responsible for safe working conditions and adheres to local, federal, and institutional safety regulations and policies
Committed to continuous training and self-development
Qualifications
At least a 2-year degree in chemistry, chemical engineering, biochemistry or related area
Scientific knowledge and ability to understand and carry out standard methods
Experience required to efficiently perform a variety of research experiments and tests including setting up and operation of apparatus and equipment
Ability to follow directions, report any unexpected occurrences and use good judgement when working with hazardous materials
Interpretation of results requires some deductive and inductive thinking
Basic personal computer skills including word processing, spreadsheets, and databases are required

The expected compensation range for this position is between $51,800.00 and $86,300.00 plus discretionary bonuses. The exact compensation may vary based on your skills, experience and other factors permitted by law.
