ABOUT THE POSITION :
The Community Relations Specialist is a dynamic, multi-faceted role responsible for fostering a positive and engaged relationship between the organization and the community it serves. This position oversees the strategic and relational aspects of Volunteer Management, provides critical support to the organization's Public Relations (PR), Marketing, and Fund Development initiatives, and assists with general agency responsibilities.

This position oversees the strategic and relational aspects of Volunteer Management, provides critical support to the organization's Public Relations (PR), Marketing, and Fund Development initiatives, and assists with general agency responsibilities.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
Volunteer Management
- Coordinate and oversee the agency’s volunteer program, acting as a liaison for volunteers with programs.
- Develop and implement strategies for volunteer recruitment, interviewing, placement, education, retention, and recognition.
- Conduct presentations and informational sessions in the community to recruit volunteers
- Maintain accurate records of all volunteer placements, hours, demographics, and generate reports on volunteer activities and program impact.
- Monitors placement and effective utilization of volunteers, interns, and other unpaid staff throughout the agency
PR & Marketing
Assist in the management and maintenance of the agency's website and social media presence, ensuring consistent engagement.Provide support for a variety of PR and marketing related needs, including creating materials, drafting communications, and providing guidance on social media best practices.Track and analyze key metrics (e.g. website traffic, social media engagement) to inform and improve marketing strategiesDeliver informational presentations to the public to promote OCO’s mission, programs, and volunteer opportunitiesCarry out special projects and assignments related to community outreach and agency communications.Fund Development
Provide essential administrative and project support to the Fund Development Coordinator to ensure efficient operation of fundraising initiatives.Assist in planning, organization, and execution of agency fundraising efforts, including events, campaigns, and donor relations.Prepare and present comprehensive reports for the Fund Development Coordinator and other relevant stakeholders.General Responsibilities
Participate actively in assigned agency committees and workgroups.Attend meetings and training sessions for skill enhancement and maintenance of professional knowledge.Develop and update agency policies and procedures related to assigned job responsibilities.Perform other related duties as assigned, contributing to overall agency operations and services.JOB REQUIREMENTS :
Must have the ability to establish positive relationships with community partners and the public.Must have the ability to conduct self with integrity in a professional manner.Must be a good role model for staff and volunteers.Must respond to inquiries in a timely and professional manner.Must have the ability to prepare and complete accurate reports.Must have ability to work independently according to daily schedule with flexibility.Must be skilled in the use of computers, databases, social media and Microsoft software programs.Must have good organizational and time management skills to complete tasks independently.Must be able to exercise independent judgement, solve routine problems and gain cooperation of others.Must possess excellent oral and written skills, communication skills including good writing and interpersonal skills.Must maintain confidentiality at all times with regard to agency donors, employees, volunteers and client information.Must have a valid NYS Driver’s License with good driving record and have access to reliable transportation for travel throughout the county and must maintain Agency Driver Certification for personal vehicle.Must readily acquire familiarity with the function of Agency and State and Federal Organizations pertinent to the position.Must be able to lift a minimum of 35 lbs. regularly.Minimum Qualifications :
Associate’s degree in human service-related field with related experience; and1-3 years’ human services experience preferably in fund development, pr and marketing and managing volunteers; orAny equivalent combination of experience, training and education.Leadership skills preferred.
