Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to join our team. The ideal candidate will work closely with occupational therapists to provide high-quality care to patients across various settings, including home health, acute care, skilled nursing facilities, and outpatient clinics. This role is essential in assisting patients with activities of daily living (ADLs), implementing care plans, and supporting rehabilitation efforts for individuals of all ages, including geriatrics.
Duties
- Assist patients in performing activities of daily living (ADLs) to promote independence and improve quality of life.
- Collaborate with occupational therapists to develop and implement individualized care plans tailored to each patient's needs.
- Provide therapy services in various settings such as home health, inpatient facilities, outpatient clinics, and skilled nursing environments.
- Utilize knowledge of physiology and anatomy to support patient rehabilitation effectively.
- Maintain accurate documentation of patient progress and treatment outcomes using medical terminology.
- Conduct assessments and assist with medical imaging as required for patient evaluation.
- Engage with patients in therapeutic activities that enhance their physical, emotional, and cognitive well-being.
- Ensure a safe and supportive environment for all patients during therapy sessions.
Requirements
Valid certification as an Occupational Therapy Assistant from an accredited program.Experience in skilled nursing facilities or acute care settings is preferred.Familiarity with geriatrics.Strong understanding of anatomy knowledge, physiology knowledge, and medical terminology.Ability to assist with ADLs effectively while demonstrating compassion and patience towards patients.Previous experience in home health or outpatient clinic settings is advantageous.Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with healthcare teams and engage with patients.Commitment to providing high-quality patient care while adhering to safety protocols.
