Position Summary
This position is funded by a grant for a duration of time as defined by the grantor.
Works under the general direction to provide and evaluate nutrition services to individuals and families who meet the eligibility criteria for the Women, Infants and Children (WIC) program at the Health Department clinics.
Pay Grade : 50
Salary Commensurate with Experience and Education
Minimum Qualifications
100% -
1. Three (3) years of experience in nutrition counseling; AND
2. Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in dietetics, health promotion, human performance, or closely related field; OR
3. An equivalent combination of related education and / or experience.
4.PROOF OF EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND / OR EXPERIENCE IS REQUIRED.
Duties and Responsibilities
1.Provides nutrition services to individuals who qualify for the Women, Infant and Children (WIC) program.
2.Screens participants for eligibility on supplemental food program.
3.Provides nutrition consultations to other professional staff.
4.Assists nutrition consultant with developing handout pamphlets for the WIC participants.
5. Instructs individuals who have modified diets as prescribed by a medical provider.
6. Assists new staff with training.
7.Prepares reports as required.
8.Performs other related duties as required or directed.

KSAs -
1.Considerable knowledge of human nutrition and its relationship to health and disease.
2.Knowledge of appropriate educational principles and methods as applied to public health nutrition practices.
3.Knowledge of the field of nutrition as it relates to public health practices.
4.Ability to analyze and evaluate nutrition data.
5.Ability to present ideas clearly, orally and in writing.
6. Proficient knowledge in Microsoft Word and Excel and other related computer software.
