Data Science is at the heart of Coinbase's product and decision-making processes. We collaborate closely with Product, Engineering, and Design teams to influence the roadmap and deepen our understanding of our users. By leveraging expertise in experimentation, analytics, and advanced modeling, we generate insights that directly impact the company’s performance.

We are currently seeking a Senior Applied Scientist to join our Retail Trading Team. In this position, you will lead pricing experiments and play a vital role in shaping our pricing strategy. Your responsibilities will include spearheading test designs and analyses, identifying opportunities to enhance engagement and profitability, and effectively communicating your insights to executives and leadership across the company.

What you will be doing:

• Collaborate with cross-functional partners to establish the pricing vision, roadmap, and priorities.

• Design and implement pricing models and evaluation frameworks to develop optimal pricing strategies.

• Create causal models to isolate the effects of fee changes using experiments and observational data.

• Initiate, develop, and maintain data pipelines and models with exceptional skill and quality.

• Translate findings into clear recommendations and communicate them effectively to senior leadership.

What we look for in you:

• Exemplification of our core values: clear communication, positive energy, continuous learning, and efficient execution.

• PhD preferred, or a Master’s degree in Economics, Statistics, or a related field with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.

• At least 5 years of experience in pricing experimentation, data analysis, and statistical modeling.

• Proficiency in SQL, Python, R, or other programming languages essential for data analysis and statistical modeling.

• Capability to independently manage analytics projects and a proven history of overseeing complex analytical initiatives across multiple teams.

• Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex data and analyses to non-technical stakeholders.

• Strong attention to detail and capacity to work efficiently under tight deadlines.

Nice to haves:

• Experience with causal inference techniques beyond controlled experiments.

• Background in a crypto-focused company or a cryptocurrency exchange.

Pay Transparency Notice: The target annual base salary for this position ranges from $180,370 to $212,200 USD, depending on the work location. Full-time offers from Coinbase also include bonus eligibility, equity eligibility, and comprehensive benefits.
