Job description

Schedule - Standard M-F; 40 hours / week; OT as needed (1-2 days / month on average)

The Applications Engineer III broadly experienced engineers who provide strategic, cross-functional and industry leadership that impacts identification of business opportunities, development of technology to address business needs, and application of new or existing technology to advance the general interest. Development of other technical leaders within their primary engineering discipline.

TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

In addition to all Level 1 and 2 Tasks and Responsibilities, a Level 3 Applications Engineer will :

  • Lead / play a key role in interactions with key project and Manufacturing asset partners, competitors, joint ventures, NOCs, industry associations, academia, industry forums such as conferences, and government agencies.
  • Technical leadership across multiple projects and / or global operations.
  • Champion business opportunities they are uniquely qualified to lead, and build expertise in others within those areas of strength.
  • Engage internally across all levels, and externally to further business objectives, with particular emphasis in the technical areas for which the individual has become well known.
  • Influence and interface with Senior Management, with emphasis on providing an understanding of technical and business risk.
  • Demonstrate authority in your field through influence in operating units, projects and external technical community.
  • Guide others who provide technical leadership for application of established, adapted, and new technologies within capital projects and asset operations.
  • Serve in an advisory capacity on opportunities to enhance business performance through pursuit of new technology or adaptation of existing technologies.
  • Mentor technical professionals, particularly those in mid-career or beyond.
  • Identify and champion capture of new business opportunities through a combination of developing new technologies, adapting existing technologies in a Client way, and application of existing technologies.
  • Develop and provide support for basic process control applications using basic application engineering skills such as point configuration, loop tuning, and identification of process dynamics
  • Monitor, maintain, and modify existing process control applications and operator interfaces
  • Identify and develop new control schemes to increase process safety, operability, and profitability
  • Provide process control support during project development, installation, and startup
  • Participate actively within the operating team including molecule management, unit troubleshooting and incident investigations
  • On-Call availability to support emergency site events (freeze, hurricane, unplanned process event, etc.) outside of normal hours when needed.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • M.S. Degree in an Engineering discipline required
  • Process Control experience as a Control / Applications Engineer in a manufacturing plant or engineering contractor firm working with operations to deploy and sustain automation solutions
  • Working knowledge of refining and chemical process technologies
  • Demonstrated experience with Multivariable Predictive Control (e.g., AspenTech DMC, Client RMPCT ) and Real-time Optimizers (e.g., RoMeo, etc.)
  • Strong applications / programming skills (Visual Basic, etc.)
  • Strong focus on Technical Quality Assurance (TQA)
  • Interest in progressing along a technical career path
  • Development and sustainment of in-house developed tools and toolkits including management and prioritization of development items, documentation and training materials
  • Provide input to Research on opportunities for enhanced business performance through pursuit of new technology or adaptation of existing technologies.
  • Pay Range :

    The max pay rate for this position is $125.00 per hour; however, the pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. This pay information is being provided pursuant to applicable law and is based in part on market location.

    Please Note :

    Must have a valid driver's license and current state required minimum vehicle insurance coverage to drive onto Client and Company property.
