Role Overview

\n

We are seeking a skilled and motivated GNC (Guidance, Navigation & Control) Operations Engineer (m / f / d) to join our engineering team. In this role, you will be responsible for commissioning and maintaining advanced vessel control systems, including dynamic positioning (DP) systems. Your work will span both onboard and office-based tasks, supporting system integration, software lifecycle processes, performance analysis, and troubleshooting.

You will collaborate closely with other engineering teams, software developers, and field service personnel to ensure our control systems operate with the highest reliability and performance standards.

Key Responsibilities

\n \n

  • Perform commissioning of Dynamic Positioning (DP) control systems, including calibration, tuning, customer acceptance testing, and Failure Mode Effect Analysis (FMEA)

\n

  • Maintain and update vessel control software in accordance with defined software lifecycle processes
  • \n

  • Collaborate with engineering and manufacturing teams during integration and factory testing
  • \n

  • Support the development and refinement of control algorithms for use across various vessel types
  • \n

  • Work with field service engineers to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues in a timely manner
  • \n

  • Prepare technical reports, documentation, and performance studies as needed
  • \n

  • Conduct software updates, troubleshooting, and performance analysis onboard vessels and in-office
  • \n \n

    Job Requirements

    \n \n

  • Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering, with a strong focus on Control Theory
  • \n

  • Solid programming skills and experience with Visual Studio
  • \n

  • Familiarity with Matlab or similar scripting tools for data analysis and algorithm development
  • \n

  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects
  • \n

  • Self-driven and able to work independently, both onboard and in engineering environments
  • \n

  • Excellent communication and documentation skills in English
  • \n

  • Able to pass physical fitness requirements for shipboard work
  • \n

  • Experience with Windows operating systems, PC hardware, and peripherals is a plus

    Compensation Disclosure (California Applicants)

    \n

    In accordance with California law, the expected salary range for this position is $75,000 to $85,000 per year , depending on qualifications and experience.
