Job description

Cafe Sushi, a beloved neighborhood gem in Harvard Square, is expanding our team as we relaunch dine-in service under our restaurant concept, Nisei, alongside our retail shop, Shoten. We’re looking for a motivated, team player who enjoys the fast-paced nature of a busy restaurant, committed to craftsmanship, and eager to contribute to a collaborative kitchen.

What You’ll Do

  • Prepare sushi ingredients such as fish, vegetables, rice, and seaweed with precision and care, adhering to food safety standards.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the sushi prep station, ensuring all tools and surfaces are sanitized regularly.
  • Handle food with proper techniques, including knife skills for slicing fish and vegetables efficiently and safely.
  • Follow all food handling protocols to ensure freshness, quality, and safety of sushi products.
  • Collaborate with culinary staff to ensure timely delivery of ingredients for service.
  • Participate in catering events or special functions by preparing sushi components as required.
  • Contribute to a positive team environment by maintaining a professional attitude and supporting fellow staff members.

What We’re Looking For

  • Strong knife skills
  • Strong English language skills
  • Sanitation and food handling safety practices are essential.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced setting while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to follow instructions precisely.
  • A passion for Japanese cuisine or sushi preparation is encouraged but not required;
  • Motivated learner
  • Team player

Schedule
This position is for Tuesday-Saturday 10am-3pm

Compensation
$18/hour
