The part-time Weekend Research Librarian supports Stetson University by providing excellent customer service to all library users and by assisting students, faculty, and staff with their research needs. Serving as a member of the duPont-Ball Library Team, the part-time Weekend Research Librarian will be responsible for, through the application of established policies and procedures, providing effective reference and research services, and for creating and maintaining online research guides, primarily on weekends, Saturdays 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. (summer 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.) and Sundays 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. (summer 12 p.m. to 8 p.m.) when classes are in session. On occasion, this position works mutually agreed upon on-call shifts at other times. In alignment with Stetson’s Strategic Priorities, the part-time Weekend Research Librarian will advance student and faculty success by helping library users navigate the information ecosystem while working in an inclusive library environment. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES Answer questions and assist with research in person, by telephone, text, chat, email, and by appointment in an on-call setting
Assist library users in the use of print and online resources and in locating material
Create and update online subject, topic, and course guides for general research and library help
Create and update online information literacy and library use tutorials, handouts, and guides
Serve as back-up for the evening and weekend circulation supervisors
Respond to routine problems library users may encounter with computers, printers, copiers, and micro-format machines when information desk staff cannot respond adequately to the user
Maintain currency regarding reference, research, and database sources
Index the papers from the E. Clay Shaw Collection; index and prepare archival and special collections materials for access as needed
Assist with collection maintenance and collection development projects such as weeding, evaluating, and recommending materials for purchase
Retrieve materials from special (locked) collections such as the University Archives, Treasure Collection, Stetson Collection, etc.
Perform other position specific functions as assigned
Required Skills 15 hour per week position, typically working weekends during Research Services hours during the fall and spring semesters (Saturday 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., Sunday 1 p.m. to 9 p.m.) and for some of the summer (Saturday 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., Sunday 12 p.m. to 6 p.m.)
Ability to work in-person
Excellent written and verbal communications skills
Attention to detail and the ability to multi-task
An MLS / MLIS degree from an ALA-accredited institution

Work Environment The duPont-Ball Library is a typical academic library with spaces for collaboration, discussion, or independent study. Noise levels are at a medium level on the main floor where collaborative study is encouraged. The perimeter areas in the building are more conducive to independent study. The library’s temperature can be chilly at various times of the year. Library spaces are shown here.
