HEALTHCARE INTERPRETIVE SERVICES COORDINATOR

• POSITION SUMMARY

The East Alabama Medical Center Interpreter will facilitate communication for limited English proficient (LEP) patients, and family members that serve them in a variety of settings to include medical, educational, financial, insurance, etc. This is an on-call Position, flexibility is required.

• POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Education

High School Diploma or equivalent.

• Successful completion of conversation / translation competency testing in secondary language
• Minimum Experience

Bilingual fluency in English and Spanish (spoken and written).

• Experience in healthcare or medical interpretation
• Strong teaching or training background
• Excellent organizational and communication skills.
• Ability to lead a team and manage multiple priorities.
• Required Registration / License / Certification

Score High Intermediate on Language Proficiency test prior to interpreting

• Preferred Education

• Preferred Experience

3-5 years healthcare experience

• Certification in medical interpretation (e.g., CMI or CHI).
• Experience with scheduling software or workforce management tools.
• Knowledge of cultural competency practices in healthcare.
• Preferred Registration / License / Certification
