Overview
Assistant Professor and Assistant Dean - College of Nursing, Health Promotion and Disease Prevention at The University of Tennessee Health Science Center. This non-tenure track role directs Student Affairs and includes faculty responsibilities as assigned by the Dean and Department Chair.
Responsibilities
- ADMISSIONS (15% Effort) Directs and manages admissions operations of the College of Nursing Office of Student Affairs, including supervision of staff involved in these functions. Develops processes with University Student Affairs / Enrollment Services, Financial Aid, and College of Nursing Academic Affairs to provide efficient and effective application processes; updates admissions and application information on the Website; manages the electronic application database; counsels prospective applicants; analyzes applications to determine competitiveness; oversees applicant data preparation for faculty review and scheduling of interviews; facilitates Admissions Committee; and communicates admissions decisions to applicants.
- RECRUITMENT (15% Effort) Plans, coordinates, and executes recruitment activities with the Recruiter (Coordinator) and the Dean. Prepares presentations, webinars, posters, and other materials for open houses, conferences, career fairs, and other recruitment events. Responds to applicant queries regarding programs. Develops travel recruitment schedule to maximize recruitment of highly qualified applicants. Manages budget for recruitment activities. Leads the Partnership Enrollment Programs (PEPs) and meets regularly with PEP partners and participants.
- STUDENT ACTIVITIES (15% Effort) Provides leadership for student activities including orientation, Student Government Association, Honor Council, and other student organizations. Serves as the lead for faculty who lead student groups and associations. Recommends scholarship allocations to incoming and current students based on award criteria to the Awards Committee. Communicates scholarship award notifications to Financial Aid Office and students. Solicits nominations for awards and forwards recommendations to the Awards Committees for final selection. Participates in Student Events and Academic Ceremonies (Commencement, Convocation, White Coat, etc.). Coordinates partnership scholars’ programs with assistant deans.
- DATA ANALYSIS (5%) Oversees collection of survey data from alumni for grants, traineeships, and accreditation reports. Provides data analysis regarding application and enrollment trends.
- CAMPUS STUDENT AFFAIRS REPRESENTATIVE (5%) Serves as the CON liaison at the campus level for Student Affairs.
- FACULTY ROLE (45%) Serves as a faculty member with additional responsibilities in teaching, service, and scholarship as assigned by the Dean and Department Chair. Oversees daily operations of Student Affairs staff, including Enrollment Manager, Admissions Pipeline Coordinator, and Admissions Counselor; conducts performance evaluations and provides feedback; implements performance improvement plans as needed.
Qualifications
EDUCATION : Doctoral Degree from an accredited institution.EXPERIENCE : A minimum of five (5) years of experience in an academic higher education environment with at least two (2) years of formal academic leadership experience. Preference for formal nursing academic leadership experience.LICENSURE : Must be eligible for licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Tennessee.Excellent written and oral communication skills, analytical skills, and organizational skills. Strong interpersonal skills. Demonstrated commitment to teamwork.
