Overview

The Library Technical Assistant plays a key role in supporting students and creating a welcoming, helpful library environment. Under direct supervision, this position provides friendly and professional customer service at the library desk, assisting students with circulation and reference needs.

Responsibilities

• Greeting and assisting students, faculty, and staff with questions about library services, resources, and spaces.
• Helping students use library technology, including computers, printing, and other equipment, while troubleshooting common issues.
• Guiding students in finding and accessing library resources, both physical and online.
• Supporting daily library operations such as opening / closing the library, checking out study rooms, and maintaining library spaces.
• Performing clerical tasks and ensuring library materials are organized and accessible (shelving, shifting, and shelf reading).
• Assisting with basic technology setup, repair, and maintenance.
• Providing excellent customer service and ensuring the library is a supportive, student-centered environment.
• Performs other duties as assigned to ensure students have a positive and productive library experience.

Midland Technical College is currently accepting applications for a Part-Time Library Technical Assistant to work at our Airport, Beltline, and Northeast Libraries.

A high school diploma and experience in library, clerical, or customer service related field.

Associate degree with two (2) years experience in library work, or a high school diploma and four (4) years experience in library, clerical, or customer service related field.
