Salary : $28 - $44 per hour, depending on experience
Legal Administrative Assistants (LAAs) provide comprehensive administrative and clerical support to multiple attorneys, ensuring seamless handling of litigation-related matters. LAAs work both independently and as part of a team and rely on experience to complete a variety of administrative support tasks such as calendaring, communicating verbally and in-writing with internal and external stakeholders, preparing and filing legal documents, composing and proofreading correspondence, and maintaining reporting.
Primary Responsibilities :
Provide administrative support to multiple litigation attorneys, managing complex calendars, court deadlines, and travel arrangements.
Prepare, proofread, and format legal documents including pleadings, discovery, motions, and correspondence.
File legal documents electronically with federal and state courts (e-filing).
Maintain and organize case files, both electronically and in hard copy, ensuring documents are easily accessible.
Coordinate meetings, depositions, court appearances, and client communications.
Track billable hours, prepare time entries, and assist with monthly billing using firm software.
Communicate professionally with clients, court staff, and opposing counsel.
Assist with trial preparation, including document production, exhibits, and witness coordination.
Perform other administrative duties as needed to support legal staff and ensure efficient case management.
Key Knowledge, Skills & Abilities :
Minimum of 5 years of legal administrative experience, with a strong focus on litigation support.
Proficiency with legal terminology, procedures, and litigation processes.
Strong skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and document management systems.
Experience with legal e-filing systems (e.g., PACER, state court portals).
Exceptional organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Strong attention to detail, excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team, maintaining confidentiality and professionalism at all times.
The ability to work at computer, sit, stand, and occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.
